I was looking forward to writing this reflection. We had just celebrated Christmas and the Epiphany and I was all set to write a fun and uplifting reflection. Then I pulled up the readings and discovered the first reading focuses on the seven deadly sins. How (ahem) fun is that?
Lou Occhi's reflections: "The Almighty has done great things for me, And Holy is His name." (The Magnificat)

Jesus’ planned avoidance, as reported by Mark, describes the historical manner of God’s ministry and outreach within a culture hostile to him. Abandonment by the Most High God as we continue to “row” forward, yet held back from moving forward and gaining ground. Most of us do not read this line correctly.
MHB-M’s reflections: As the Lord told Moses, “No one can see my face and live” (Exod 33:20).
John was a mystic
He recalled the Exodus account of the first Passover and pondered what he had witnessed

Click here to read Steve Hall’s reflection from January 11, 2025. Here's an excerpt:
Of the four gospel accounts, only John’s omits the last supper.
Of the four gospels, only that of John contains the statement from John the Baptist: “Behold, the Lamb of God.”
John was a mystic.
Steve Hall's reflections: For our knowledge is imperfect and our prophecy is imperfect; but when the perfect comes, the imperfect will pass away. (1 Corinthians 13:9)
